About Demoris Hickman Performing Arts

Our Mission

The Demoris Hickman Performing Arts Center is a beacon of creative expression and healing, devoted to using the transformative power of performing arts to inspire, encourage, and uplift individuals of all ages. As a nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to fostering a community where youth and adults alike can discover, nurture, and share their talents in the performing arts. Our mission is to provide accessible and inclusive opportunities for all to explore their creativity, develop their skills, and find their voice through music, dance, theater, and more. We strive to empower individuals to express themselves authentically, fostering personal growth and emotional well-being.

Meet the Founder

Demoris Hickman

  Demoris Hickman is a Darlington, SC native. He grew up in a time when his life was not as safe and secure as he might have wanted it to be. Demoris, like so many young people, spent 15 years wandering aimlessly. He lived the life of a homeless drug addict. Demoris saw and felt the pain he caused himself and all those around him but his thirst for drugs overpowered his ability to navigate out of the cycle of his Godless life.  His passion lies within the body of Christ. God and life have brought him to this place where he wants to activate social change within the African American and multi-cultural communities across our nation. His desire for life and justice inspires him to want to use his books, films, and stage plays to motivate, create, implement, and sustain lifestyles that promote wholesome God motivated lives while encouraging social, political, and financial justice throughout our nation.
